Carbon Abatement Technologies, National Workshop & Brokering, Royal Armouries, Leeds, 18th May 2009

The Technology Strategy Board, The Northern Way and the Department of Energy and Climate Change are co-hosting a 1 day workshop in order to highlight the opportunities to participate in their upcoming £15m Carbon Abatement Technologies (CATs) joint competition to be launched in June 2009.

The competition focuses on the Applied Research, Development and Pilot Demonstration of CATs that will improve their efficiency, reduce cost and accelerate deployment when applied to large single point sources of CO2 emissions (eg fossil power plants & process plants, such as metal processing, chemical & cement industries).

The workshop will highlight the technology challenges and market opportunities for CATs and help to stimulate project ideas and facilitate the development of consortia to bid into the competition.

Objectives

  • to provide an overview of the scope of the call
  • to present the key technology challenges, market and supply chain opportunities
  • to develop outline, business led, project ideas
  • to facilitate networking, partner brokering and consortia forming
